About Brett De Palma
Brett De Palma, has been challenging and reinventing the idea of artistic freedom for over thirty years. A native of Nashville and graduate of Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, De Palma moved to New York City’s Greenwich Village in the early 1980’s. There he identified with the punk new-wave movement, went to CBGB after hours and met Diego Cartez who include him in New York New-Wave show of 1981 along with artists Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His artworks are the residue of his experience; they are witnesses created to reflect their time and space. They are consciously and unconsciously crafted to mirror the ever-evolving information of his personal perceptions and are tangible reminders of a remembered life for those who come after. Brett De Palma’s extensive exhibition experience includes one-person shows at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery and Arnold Hertsand Gallery in New York City and the Emilio Mazzoli in Italy.
