Amy Coté

Amy Coté grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. As an under-graduate at Bennington College in Vermont, she was influenced by Kenneth Noland, Stephen Mueller and Jules Olitski, notable color field painters, and sculptor Isaac Witkin, among others. She received her MFA in painting from SUNY New Paltz and has a studio in the Shirt Factory in Kingston NY. Her narrative visual art often references theater, uses a variety of mediums, and is based on the writings in her dream journals as well as those of her mother, whose fractured memories were a result of many years of shock treatment and hospitalization. Amy shows in the Hudson Valley and in NYC.
