We the People is the new solo show by award-winning actor and writer Doug Motel. Doug will be reading scenes from his work in progress before an audience to help aid him in the development process.

In this latest work, Doug presents portraits of more than ten funny, quirky characters from all political spectrums who are strongly impacted by the 2016 election.

Characters include: “Obi-Wan” the 29-year-old cannabis sommelier and the host of the “Herbal Alert” podcast from Santa Cruz, CA. “Angelo” the 48-year-old Brooklyn recovering sex addict crazy for “political activist chicks”. And “Coralee” the 60-year-old President of the 31st Division of the Daughters of the Confederacy in Blue Hill, South Carolina.

“I found myself getting distressed over how divided my fellow Americans were becoming as a result of being targets of political ideology, and I knew that my only way through it was to try to make something funny out of it.” said Motel.

The performance will be followed by a short “talk back” with the writer/performer to open the dialogue deeper into the issues and to help with the future shape of the play.

Motel is the author of several solo plays including MIND SALAD – L.A. Weekly Award nomination for writing and performing and SHIVA ARMS – winner L.A. Weekly Award for writing and performing and winner Theatre LA Ovation Award for Best Writing of a World Premiere play.

The New York Post has compared him to superstar Lily Tomlin, saying Doug Motel “is one of those rare comedians who creates and becomes totally original characters” and his work has been seen all the U.S. and Europe. Visit: http://www.DougMotel.com to learn more.

This performance is not suitable for children under 13 years of age.  A request for a small donation will be announced during the evening.
