Robin the Hammer and Sweetbryar
Robin the Hammer and Sweetbryar have been part of every major movement in American Bohemia since the Beat Generation, Psychedelia, Punk, and on into the Now.
The Hammer is well known for his Blues, original and classics, and is the guitarist for The Five Points Band, but he is also known as The Goldsmith to the Gods—he is the creator of fantastical jewelry, most notably for Billy Idol, and for over twenty years made the original Cannabis Cup.
Sweetbryar has been part of Woodstock since 1964. Painter, sculptor, calligrapher, her work has most recently been featured in the book “100 New York Calligraphers” by Cynthia Maris Dantzic—but she is also a gifted and subtle songwriter. As lead singer of the original Shivers, she whipped up the crowds at Max’s Kansas City and CBGB in the late 70s. These days she doesn’t have to fight the band’s volume, and gets her point across with style.
They have been married since the early 14th century, and love each other madly.
Karen Whitman and Rick Pantell
Karen Whitman and Rick Pantell, have been a singer-songwriter duo since 1994. Their original songs are narrative, thoughtful and personal, with a thread of humor throughout their unique and surprising performances. Rick’s creative finger picking and Karen’s expressive, resonant voice keep audiences uplifted and engaged.
Whitman & Pantell, from Woodstock, NY, have performed at numerous coffeehouses and festivals in the New York City tri-state area. Festivals include The New Jersey Folk Festival in New Brunswick (with their then band, Paprikash), as well as at Clearwater Great Hudson River Revivals. They have been broadcast live on WAMC’s “Dancing on the Air” with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, as well as in concert with Pete Seeger and others. Their CD, “Chicken Fat Pudding and Other Delights” played on radio stations throughout the country, was spotlighted on WKZE FM on Todd Mack’s “Off the Beat-N-Track” radio show and on Terry Doyle’s “Imprint Radio Show” on WIOX FM.
