About Wendy Stewart
Wendy Stewart is a Canadian who for the past 13 years has made her home in Central New York, where she lives with her family, teaches first-year writing, and directs the Writing Center at Binghamton University. Before that, she taught literature as an adjunct at various Canadian universities and earned a certificate in Thanatology, the study of death, which made her unpopular at parties but enabled her to work in suicide prevention, grief support, and HIV education. She’s published poems, creative nonfiction, essays, humor, and artwork in Our Voices, ragazine.cc, San Pedro River Review, and The Afterlife of Discarded Objects, a digital collective story-telling project (http://theafterlifeofdiscardedobjects.weebly.com/) and book. She just finished a collection of poems, Memory Split-Entry: an Abecedarium of Living Things, which explores relationships between people as mediated through the objects they share, fight over, pass down, disavow, and covet. She frets over how few letters the alphabet has and cheats on it, a little.
